6xx codes always indicate that a request failed completely and were not executed. Response level errors are present when the “success” parameter of the response is set to false, and will be structured like this:Įach object in the “errors” array has two members, “code,” which is a quoted integer from 601 to 799 and a “message” giving the plaintext reason for the error. The request should be retried as a POST with param _method=GET in the URL, and the rest of the querystring in the body of the request. This is typically due to an invalid Client Id or invalid Client Secret. The Identity endpoint can return a 401 Unauthorized error. It’s rare to hit this limit in most cases, but is somewhat common when retrieving large batches of records with long individual filter values such as a GUID. If it does change your request to a POST method, then input your query string as the request body with the additional parameter ‘_method=GET’. To avoid it, check against the length of your query string to see if it exceeds this limit. In most scenarios it unlikely to hit these limits, but adding a check to the size of the request and moving any records which cause the limit to be exceeded to a new request should prevent any circumstances which lead to this error being returned by any endpoints.Ĥ14 will be returned when the URI of a GET request exceeds 8KB. Marketo will return 413 if the Request Payload exceeds 1MB, or 10MB in the case of Import Lead. These are both recoverable through catching the error, modifying the request and retrying, but with smart coding practices, you should never encounter these in the wild. Under normal operating circumstances Marketo should only return two HTTP status code errors, 413 Request Entity Too Large, and 414 Request URI Too Long. For all error types, the HTTP reason phrase should not be evaluated as it is optional and subject to change. Record-Level – These errors are included in the “result” array of the JSON response, and are indicated on an individual record basis with the “status” field and “reasons” array.įor Response-Level and Record-Level error types, an HTTP status code of 200 is returned.Response-Level – These errors are included in the “errors” array of the JSON response.HTTP-Level – These errors are indicated by a 4xx code. The Marketo REST API can return three different types of errors under normal operation: While certain types of exceptions, such as expired authentication can be safely handled by reauthentication, others may require support interactions, and requests and responses will always be requested in this scenario. When developing for Marketo, it’s very important that requests and responses get logged when an unexpected exception is encountered.

Now that’s something for Non to curl up into the fetal position over. Richard Lester might have to make some improvements to his movie so that Superman’s status in the DC universe is safe. Can you imagine how many evil lanterns Hal could temporarily inconvenience with all of those floating emblems? I can see how this might potentially upset the hierarchy in the DC universe though. See that? Even Kyle Rayner knows what's up. Now that’s how you one-up the competition and maneuver your way into DC’s big-three. Comics have to show that they're moving forward, right? You know, come to think of it, I don’t think it’s enough for Hal to just plagiarize Supes. On that note, who am I to say that Hal Jordan doesn’t deserve his own lime flavored fruit roll-up trap too? Take that Non! Hmm. Even Family Guy had to pay their respects. And he was hiding it from us when we were just kids! What an ass. That cellophane S was always a cool power that we never knew Clark was hiding from us. Hey, you know that might actually be a great way to pay homage to Superman 2. Do these emblems pose an inconvenience to the bad guys? Can Hal just grab those cellophane lantern insignias, and throw them at Non for example? Everything else on the page is just ordinary by comparison. See what I mean? You can’t help but stare at it with the people's eyebrow. Is it a diagram to help artists remember what the logo is supposed to look like when it doesn’t follow the contours of his chest? If memory serves, I think Ethan Van Sciver is the one that started this trend. “Why is there a flat logo floating out there in front of the one on his chest?” I thought to myself. Believe me, I'm glad to see Hal Jordan art again, but I think the first time that I saw this.experiment, it looked like a mistake. Whenever I see it, I know that something is still slightly Bizarro World in the 21st century. However, there’s one trend that I’m hoping won’t survive too much longer into this decade. With all the Green Lantern art on covers, posters, and websites, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when I see a familiar character back in the limelight. DC is truly pushing him if in fact Ryan Reynolds is going to do 3 movies in 3 years. When was the last time that Green Lantern could say that he had a feature length animated DVD out in the stores? The whole DC Universe seems to hinge on this guy with Blackest Night and Brightest Day tied into everything. Over the last decade though, you could say that he’s experienced somewhat of a resurgence. I have to say that I kind of lost interest in the character when he became Parallax. Hal went through some rough times in the 90s. Their designs are simple, their logos are easy to draw, and they have great colour schemes. He said that out of all the costumes in comics, Green Lantern, and Flash have the best ones. When he saw a few comic book illustrations in my portfolio, he really got going. I still remember a conversation I had with an art director about 11 years ago. After college, but before I got into my current line of work, I lugged a portfolio around town trying to get a job as an illustrator. Later, when I started to collect comics, I got the 6 issue Emerald Dawn series. I still remember that episode of the Super Powers cartoon when the Legion of Doom went back in time to prevent the Justice League’s most powerful members from existing: Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. Green Lantern was one of the first action figures I got, and I was pretty choked when I lost his lantern accessory. Way back in the 80s, there was the awesome Super Powers line of DC figures. You need to take advantage of that"īefore I focus on one of my pet peeves, I think I need to do a quick snapshot of where my perspective on Hal comes from. "The internet is a place where absolutely NOTHING happens. As a popular flash animated character has once said: That said, it's 2010, and I think it's high time to talk about something new. I must say, there sure are a lot of anonymous funny magazine philosophers out there willing to offer their expert opinions about the same things. If you surfed the whole internet a couple of times, you would find that Rob Liefeld is still a very popular punching bag among the 'pundits'. Looking back, there are sooooo many things from the late 80s and early 90s comics that are funny as all hell to look at now. Before I take a crack at this, let me say first of all that the quality of art in comics has come a long way. I’ve never heard of any such law elsewhere in the world that safeguards and promotes the reading of particular works of fiction in this way. The Act mandated that the novels be translated from the original Spanish into English and Tagalog (the principal Filipino dialect), that they be available in cheap unexpurgated editions, and that there should always be a sufficient number of copies held in school and university libraries. The children are the future – that’s the key message of Rizal’s novel.Īccording to the Rizal Law, compulsory study of Rizal’s novels should promote in the country’s youth ‘a re-dedication to the ideals of freedom and nationalism for which our heroes lived and died’, ‘encourage civic conscience’ and ‘teach the duties of citizenship’. The Act identifies Rizal as ‘the national hero and patriot’ of the Philippines. In 1956 the ‘Rizal Law’ came into force in the Philippines, requiring the life and writings of José Rizal, particularly his novels Noli Me Tangere(1887) and El Filibusterismo(1891), to be included in the curricula of all public and private schools, colleges and universities throughout the country. It was only after I’d finished the novel, back at home a few weeks later, that I learned the reason for this seemingly universal response every time I mentioned Rizal and his novel. ‘We read that at school! Rizal is our national hero!’ José Rizal I can’t believe you’re reading that!’ Later in the week I received a virtually identical reaction from the media manager at one of the hotels we visited. ‘ Noli Me Tangere? We studied it at school. Our other host (another young woman in her twenties) came back from the breakfast buffet and joined in the conversation. She looked at me in amazement, her fork poised in mid-air. I told her it was a novel called Noli Me Tangere. I downloaded it on Kindle and started reading it on the plane going over to Manila.Ī few days later I was talking at breakfast to one of our lovely hosts from Tourism Philippines and happened to mention that I’d been reading before bed the previous night. I knew nothing about it except that the title kept coming up in Google searches for ‘novels set in the Philippines’. For my Philippines trip last month, I chose Noli Me Tangere by José Rizal. When I visit a country for the first time, I try to read a novel written or set there. Bell ringers of Bohol (photograph by Adam Gibson) Now that I've made the switch, I can't go back to a simple text editor. I was a Sublime Text user for years and I finally switched to Webstorm after being nagged by my biz partner (former Java developer) to switch to Webstorm because it makes doing things like refactoring, debugging, and jumping to function definitions possible. Well, its not that expensive and before VSCode, it was really the only good IDE available for web development. All of these options are free, so why would anyone pay for Webstorm? It seems that most web developers today are either still using a text editor like Sublime Text or Atom OR they have moved over to VSCode. Webstorm is an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for web developers by JetBrains. If you haven't used Invision, you need to try it out. I love Invision because it has a great UI for organizing your projects, collaborating with clients, and building awesome clickable prototypes. They offer a free tiers so you can try it out, but it limits the number of projects you can create. Invision is the tool I use to present my designs to clients. If you sign up for a paid Invision account using this link I'll get a free Invision t-shirt □ and that would make me so happy! If that bothers you, you can just go to ) Website: (Full disclosure, this is a referral link. It also allows you to link buttons to different screens and sync the whole thing with Invision, helping you save tons of time building clickable prototypes. It allows you to add dynamic data and images to your designs. Speaking of Sketch plugins, Craft is a plugin for Sketch, made by Invision. Note: Keep your eye out for Invision Studio which comes out in Spring 2018 and is likely to be a strong competitor to Sketch. At just $99 a year, Sketch is totally worth the time it has saved me. There are also tons of plugins that add lots of extra cool functionality to Sketch. What I love most about Sketch is that you can define how individual objects move and scale within groups, which allows for super easy resizing of views, making responsive design a breeze. I still use Photoshop sometimes, but only for editing photos or creating images that will end up in my Sketch mockups. It took some getting used to but now I use Sketch for all of my UI work. Over time, I kept hearing more and more about Sketch from my designer friends so decided to give it a try. Design Toolsīefore Sketch, I used Photoshop to create all of my web mockups. In comparison, Mimosas are made with orange juice and Champagne. Bellinis are classically made with peach puree and Prosecco. What’s the Difference Between a Mimosa and a Bellini?īoth are a combination of a fruit juice or purée and sparkling wine. We like these bottles of Prosecco, but other Italian sparkling wine or even Champagne can do the trick. The recipe calls for a good Italian Prosecco, which has a slight sweetness and notes of apple, lemon stone fruit and lemon that pair nicely with the peach. What Is the Best Sparkling Wine for Bellinis? Additionally, peach juice works in a pinch, as will other fruit juices like pomegranate, strawberry or orange juices. But, any peach will work in this recipe for purée if you can’t find fresh white peaches. Today, many bars in Italy still insist on serving the drink with fresh peach purée from May to September, when the peaches are in season. The classic Bellini was made with fresh white peaches from Italy. Whisk 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk, egg, and 1 tablespoon melted butter together in a separate bowl. Photography by Heidi’s Bridge FAQs What Are the Best Peaches for Bellinis? Directions Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl. He eventually named the cocktail after the artist. Legend has it, Cipriani was inspired by the 15th-century Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini’s pink-hued artwork to create the drink’s characteristic sunset-hued appearance. After experimenting with puréed white peaches and Prosecco, he created the Bellini we know and love today. Cipriani was well known for leaning into local ingredients, and he was particularly fond of white peaches in the summer months when they were abundant in Italy. The original Bellini recipe was supposedly created in 1948 by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder and bartender at Harry’s Bar in Italy. Here’s everything to know about this brunch staple. But when a Bellini is made using fresh, in-season peaches to create a delicately sweet purée and topped with the semi-sweet bubbles of a high-quality Prosecco, it becomes something extraordinary. Why? They can often be cut with mass-produced peach juice and cheap sparkling wine, or batch made without the proper ratios. If you’ve ever ordered a peach Bellini for a bottomless brunch special, you may have found yourself sipping on a lackluster cocktail. The picture was not consistent with acetazolamide ingestion, since that drug causes metabolic acidosis.Īmong all causes of chloride-responsive metabolic alkalosis, surreptitious vomiting seems the most likely. Thiazides, metolazone and loop diuretics were absent in her urine. Our patient did not report constipation (which might have induced her to ingest excessive alkali) or chronic diarrhoea with persistent (Na or K) chloride losses. NaHCO 3) or that non-renal loss of chloride occurred. This finding suggests that either the patient ingested other sodium salts (e.g. Most of the dietary intake of sodium was not in the form of sodium chloride, as twice as much sodium was excreted as compared to chloride. Her 24-h urinary potassium excretion was high, about twice the daily excretion expected in Germany. Our patient presented with hypokalaemia, metabolic alkalosis and a normal blood pressure. Calcifications were also identified in the tubular epithelial cells (Figure (Figure2 2). Heavy interstitial calcifications were observed in the cortex and outer medulla (Figure (Figure1). However, the interstitium showed round cell infiltrate and matrix expansion. A kidney biopsy revealed normal glomeruli and blood vessels. Renal ultrasound revealed normal-sized kidneys with increased cortical density and a suggestion of nephrocalcinosis. Urine was tested for diuretic metabolites of furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, mefruside, piretanide, xipamide and canrenone, but none were found. A 1,25-hydroxyvitamin D level was normal, while the parathyroid hormone concentration was 121 pg/ml (10–65 pg/ml). The renin/aldosterone ratio was 9.4 (normal <50). The sediment was bland, and modest proteinuria (368 mg/24 h albumin 275 mg/24 h, IgG 15 mg/24 h, alpha-1 microglobulin 35 mg/24 h) was present. A urine specimen showed an alkaline pH 8.5. The haemoglobin was 11 g/dl the gamma-glutamyl transferase was slightly elevated at 86 U/l, while other liver enzymes were normal. The calcium excretion was lower than expected, while the magnesium excretion was normal. The finding strongly suggests that most of the cation secretion was ingested with some anion other than chloride. The urine anion gap (-UCl) was 200 mmol in a 24-h collection. The chloride excretion was substantially lower than the cation excretion. Notable are the slightly reduced chloride concentration and the high urine sodium and potassium excretion. The electrolyte values are given in Table Table1. Her pH was 7.59, PaCO 2 30 mmHg and HCO 3 29 mmol/l. Her creatinine concentration was 1.8 mg/dl, estimated glomerular filtration rate was 33 ml/min and the potassium was 3.3 mmol/l. She had tooth decay, but no inner enamel loss. Her volume status was normal, there was no oedema and the organ systems were intact. The body mass index was 24.7 kg/m 2, the blood pressure was 130/70 mm Hg and the heart rate was 72 beats/min without orthostatic changes. She was divorced but lived in a stable relationship. The patient expressed concern about her weight but denied bulimia, vomiting induction, laxative or diuretic abuse. She had abused alcohol as an adult and had several earlier admissions for withdrawal and counselling. As a child, the patient had been obese and had been sent to a weight loss centre that resulted in a 15 kg weight reduction. A high alcohol intake with complications was suspected but could not be proved. An elevated creatinine concentration (3 mg/dl) and hypokalaemia (3.0 mmol/l) were recorded. We recently encountered a patient who taxed our diagnostic skills.Ī 42-year-old woman was first seen in our hospital with ‘hyperventilation and panic attacks’. Diuretic abuse may be a confounder however, metabolic breakdown products and the temporal course of chloride excretion generally solve the mystery. In patients with high urinary potassium with metabolic alkalosis, the urinary chloride concentration can be particularly helpful in separating surreptitious vomiting from Bartter's syndrome or Gitelman's syndrome. In any event, acid–base status is extremely helpful and generally indicates which end of the gastrointestinal tract or which level of the nephron is responsible. In patients with a high urinary potassium excretion, the kidneys themselves are implicated. In those patients with low urinary potassium excretion, a gastrointestinal cause for the hypokalaemia would come to mind. Diagnostic steps usually involve assessing urinary potassium excretion, transtubular potassium gradient (TTKG) and concomitant acid–base disturbances. History and physical examination can be misleading or inaccurate. Unravelling chronic hypokalaemia can be a clinical challenge in some patients. The features are hammered out and then polished across the whole surface. It also tends to have various special features, such as a flared edge, an arched butt, an angled body, grooves and ridges. It is usually made from greenstone or some other exclusive stone, and is fitted with a shaft hole. The polygonal axe is a kind of battle axe that belongs to the Late Stone Age and dates to around 3000–3400 BC.Examples of these include the boat axes used in the Battle Axe cultures of Europe in around 3200–1800 BC (read more about the Battle Axe culture below). The shaft-hole axes were made using various stones, although not flint, and were more likely to be status weapons or ceremonial objects. These axes were probably used for woodwork, like a gouge or chisel for example. Axes with a hollow edge may be of different types and occur during different periods. The hollow-edged axe has a concave blade, like a modern gouge. It also occurs in eastern Småland, Bohuslän and Skåne, and on Gotland. It was particularly common in Central Sweden and the lower parts of Northern Sweden. The round stone axe belongs to the Early Stone Age, but also occurs in large numbers during the early part of the Late Stone Age. Only the edge is polished, the rest of the axe is often finely hammered. The round stone axe is a greenstone axe with an oval or rounded profile. The thin-butted axe was good for forest clearing, probably in the context of ring-barking. The older types are generally longer and broader and have a thinner butt than the later thick-butted axe. They tend to be seen as a working axe, and originate from roughly 3700–3200 BC. The thin-butted axe is usually made from flint, but some versions in other stone occur in both flint-rich and flint-poor areas.Characteristic of Western Sweden, Southern Norway and particularly the Oslofjord during the latter part of the Early Stone Age. The edge is polished and the butt bears signs of hammering. The Lihult axe (Norwegian Nøstvet axe) is a roughly hewn greenstone axe.Use wear analysis shows that the flake axe was probably used for preparing skins, rather than woodwork or other tasks. The flake axe is a type of axe made from a large flake chipped from a core, whose edge is used for the broad edge of the axe.The core axe appeared during the Early Stone Age. The core axe is a roughly hewn, unpolished flint axe with a pointed butt and the widest part often towards the cutting edge. When, much later, the axe was given a wooden handle, several different types of axes were developed, which may be divided into two main groups: Non-shaft-hole axes and shaft-hole axes.Īs the name suggests, the non-shaft-hole axes had no hole for the handle and were generally made from flint, greenstone or slate. Gradually, the design was refined to include knives, scrapers and arrowheads, amongst other things. The hand axe was probably used for many different tasks, everything from butchering animals to digging up tubers. The hand axe was a pear-shaped and roughly chipped stone tool brought to an even point, with a broad handle. The axe is one of the oldest tools used by mankind. Sometimes there is reference to a “Copper Age” as the transition period from Stone Age to Bronze Age. The Late Stone Age, which covers the period when farming became the main means of subsistence. The Early Stone Age, when humans lived by hunting and fishing, which spans the time from the first production of stone tools around 2.5 million years ago to the end of the last Ice Age around 10,000–11,000 years ago – and The name comes from the fact that most of the period’s cutting tools are made from stone. The Stone Age is the period in human history that marks the advent of tool production. (In a classic Simpsons gag, Bart learns how to add Roman numerals through the many Rocky films: “Rocky V plus Rocky II equals Rocky VII: Adrian’s Revenge!”) It’s true that few film series can justify a Part III beyond it being a churned-out cash grab.īut there’s more fight in Rocky III. Rocky soon became shorthand for that very 1980s trend of relentless sequels. It's easy to believe that the art commission, mockingly called “the Guardians of Good Taste” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, would write off anything to do with Rocky III, a tightly formulaic sequel that thumps along to Eye of the Tiger, and pits Rocky against TV hardman Mr. It was, said Gorman, “a statue that the public can relate to”. It kicked off a battle between blue collar locals – who adopted the fictitious Balboa as an icon of Philly pride – and stuffy art commission officials, who thought the statue was too lowbrow for pride of place at the museum.Ī truck driver named Art Gorman led the campaign to keep the statue. But Stallone’s gesture – gifting Philadelphia with an 8½ft, 1,500lb monument to himself – caused some controversy. Stallone imagined that the statue would remain permanently in that spot at the Museum of Art. It took Schomberg more than a year to complete. In reality, Stallone had commissioned the sculptor A. Before the filming for Rocky III began, Sylvester Stallone gifted the film’s most iconic prop – the Rocky Balboa statue – to the City of Philadelphia. In the story, the statue is revealed to Balboa at the “Rocky steps” – the 72 steps that lead up to the Philadelphia Museum of Art – where, in the original film, Rocky runs and raises his arms in near-victory – the sign of a good morning’s training montage. That image of the Italian Stallion atop the steps presides – in triumphant spirit, at least – over the entire series, including the newest installment, Creed III. |
